There’s no room for an umbrella.The compartments are just very well thought out and practical. The entire outside of the bag is wire protected and the strap has a wire in it. The strap has a locking ability which can be used when you’re at an outdoor cafe by locking your purse to the chair so some purse snatcher can’t run off with it. The strap also has a wire in it so it can’t be easily cut. The shortest the strap can be is 15″ the longest is 30.
